The purpose of this assignment is for you to demonstrate your learning by creating a series of multimedia artifacts that communicate your ideas to a target audience. Unlike a traditional essay or discussion board, this assignment allows you to take on new perspectives, produce real-world content, and explore your voice as a scholar and global citizen. By creating digital artifacts in the form of text, audio, video, and images, you are developing your ability to communicate across a variety of digital platforms, amplifying your voice and ensuring your marketability in the future workforce.
With each multimedia artifact, you will learn and practice using new software, tools, and techniques. You are encouraged to pursue projects that will both showcase your strengths and challenge you to go beyond your comfort zone. When making your selections, consider which sub-skills and experiences might open pathways of opportunity for you in the short and long term.
This assignment is designed to challenge you to think creatively. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs 2023 Report lists creative thinking as the number one "on the rise" core skill, as well as the second-overall core skill, required by workers today. In work and in life, there will forever be demand for you to come up with new and original ideas, approach puzzles from new perspectives, and discover unique solutions to problems.
Embrace the design process, follow through on your ideas, and persevere through challenges. By the end of this semester, you will have created standout representations to feature in your professional portfolio.
